Can you believe it! You are 4 days from leaving for your cruise! When you booked this months ago did you ever imagine you could be this excited? Well, you have been prepping and packing and researching and dreaming. Hopefully the last 26 day count down has kept you on track for a perfect cruise. Now you are almost boarding that ship and heading to the high seas! Today we are going to help you with your carry-on. Even if you are not flying to your cruise, you will want to bring a carry-on to the ship.
HINT- You will be checking in your luggage with the porters when you get to the dock. They will be delivering it to your stateroom. But, you may not see your luggage till after you sail! So you need to bring with you any important things that you don’t want out of your sight. And maybe even a change of clothes! Really? Yup! Once you get to the ship, or before dinner, you may want to get out of your travel clothes. And since you don’t know what time your luggage will arrive, you may want to have one of your fab outfits with you to wear! Some people like to hit the pool or hot tub on sail day, too. If that is you, pack your bathing suit in your carry-on!
Cruise carry on checklist
- Keep your medicine with you
- Keep your valuable jewelry with you
- Keep your electronics with you
- Passport or ID
- Ship Boarding passes
- Change of clothes for dinner, or pool
- Walking shoes to check out the ship
- Credit card for check-in
- Sweater or wrap in case it is air-conditioned
- Keep all of your travel documentation with you when you board.
- Hat and Sunglasses for walking the decks!
SHAUNA TRAVEL CLUE – I like to pack my shoes in my carry-on suitcase for the plane in order to keep my luggage lighter. We usually stay in a hotel the night before. So, before we leave for the ship, I lighten my carry-on and load up my suitcase! They don’t weigh your luggage at the port, so it can be heavier than what you put on the plane! Before I leave the hotel I move shoes, magazines, travel books, etc. out of my flight carry-on into my big luggage to be checked at the dock. But make sure you carry on all of the things on the above checklist.
SHIP TIP – CABIN SAFE – Once you get to your cabin put all of your jewelry, wallets, passports, etc in the safe before you leave your cabin. If there are any electronics that you want to leave behind lock them in your carry-on suitcase. Again, we hope everything in your cabin is secure from theft. But better safe than sorry!
Then take off and explore your home on the water!
